Lawrence Kasdan looks to be building quite the cast for his latest directorial effort, "Darling Companion," his first since 2003's generally panned sci-fi-er "Dreamcatcher." With Kevin Kline, Diane Keaton, Richard Jenkins and Elisabeth Moss already on board, the family drama has now added three more thespians in Sam Shephard, Dianne Wiest and mumblecore maven Mark Duplass.
With a script by Kasdan and wife Meg, the story centers on a family wedding in the Rockies and the chaos that ensues as a man loses his wife's beloved dog and enlists the help of wedding guests to help him find it.
Even though he's probably better known as the scribe behind George Lucas classics such as "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" and then his own debut behind the camera in "Body Heat," this projects definitely sounds like something more in the vein of his work with "Grand Canyon" and "Big Chill."
Production begins in Utah this week with Werc Werk Works' Elizabeth Redleaf, Likely Story's Anthony Bregman, Christine Walker and John Kelly producing.
