Back in the spring, Paramount acquired the rights to forthcoming novel "Gideon's Sword" by thriller writers Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child for Michael Bay to produce. Well it looks like he's now eyeing the director's chair.
Heat Vision reports that "Changing Lanes" writer Chap Taylor has been hired to adapt the forthcoming novel (it hits stores in February) "that would give Bay an opportunity to show character work while delivering high-octane set pieces." Because if there is one thing Bay has always prided himself on, it's character.
Anyway, the film "centers on a hero imbued with ability to convince people of almost anything. The story involves the man trying to clear the name of his father, falsely imprisoned by the NSA, and possibly save the world at the same time." So couldn't he just convince people at the NSA his father is innocent? We guess not so that's why chases and explosions and, oh right, character, will happen.
Michael Bay's next exploration of character and story will be "Transformers 3" hitting theaters on July 1, 2011.
