While we're bummed audiences pretty much ignored "Let Me In" this weekend, around the Playlist water cooler, we can all agree it's a great film, with some of us arguing (blasphemy!) that its even better than Tomas Alfredson's "Let The Right One In." At any rate, Chloe Moretz is ace in the film, and her career is on the rise. In an interview with Collider, the actress talked about what's next on her plate and also, what isn't.
Right now, the actress is filming Martin Scorsese's "Hugo Cabret" but after that she reveals, "I think my next one will be 'Hick' with Derick Martini, which is very exciting. Kirsten Dunst is in talks to be in the movie." The film was first announced this summer and its a tremendously gritty film. It "tracks a 13-year-old Nebraska girl who gets more than she bargained for when she runs away to Las Vegas." The pistol-packin' protagonist ends up rolling with a "cocaine snorting grifter" who enlists her help for a robbery and later gets raped by a man in a secluded motel. It will definitely be a dramatic shift for the actress. Dunst's potential involvement is definitely new, but it looks like the project is slowly putting the pieces together.
As for "Kick-Ass 2" which Mark Millar keeps insisting is happening, Moretz pours a bucket of cold water on that idea saying, "Yeah, I’d totally love to be Hit Girl again, but I don’t know about 'Kick-Ass 2.' Everyone’s like, “It’s just been announced!,” but I’m like, “No, it hasn’t. That’s all rumor.” This echoes comments by other cast members including most recently, Aaron Johnson, who said he hasn't seen a script or heard anything about it even though he talks regularly to Matthew Vaughn.
Big things on the horizon for the actress who is also linked to Karyn Kusama's hunting/survival film "The Rut" and more recently, "Emily The Strange" (though she says that one is still a bit of a way off). Moretz is in theaters now with "Let Me In" and will be seen after that in Ami Mann's "The Fields."
